Enable any Standard Controller to Use ET

A Weather Reach Receiver works together with standard irrigation controllers to automatically allow watering when needed.

Using broadcast weather data the Weather Reach Receiver calculates and accumulates evapotranspiration (ET) and rainfall amounts in a moisture balance. Once the moisture balance has reached a programmable threshold, the Weather Reach Receiver allows watering to occur. The threshold is how much water is needed to refill the soil reservoir from a watering cycle. The station run times are set in the controller to apply the correct amount of water.

Sprinkler controllers activate automatic valves with 24-VAC. These controllers use a common wire that goes to all valves. The Weather Reach Receiver will manage the output of the controller by interrupting the common. Watering is suspended until needed based on ET and rain. The Weather Reach Receiver manages two ET-based schedules, typically one for lawn and the other for shrubs, by controlling two valve common outputs. The controller is scheduled to water every available day. The Weather Reach Receiver determines when watering is needed and controls the frequency of irrigation. During hot dry times, watering will occur much more frequently then during cooler weather cycles or rain.
